Clock domain crossing - CDC

A clock domain crossing (CDC), or simply clock crossing, is when a signal crosses from one clock domain into another. If a signal does not assert long enough and is not registered, it may appear asynchronous on the incoming clock boundary.

Synchronizing a signal that crosses into a higher clocked domain can be accomplished by registering the signal through a flip-flop that is clocked by the source domain, thus holding the signal long enough to be detected by the higher clocked destination domain. Synchronizing a signal traversing into a slower clock domain is more cumbersome. This typically requires a register in each clock domain with a form of feedback from the destination domain to the source domain, indicating that the signal was detected.

Im upgrading now to a bigger PSU just in case i overlock my new rig- this is the 2nd build i have used this PSU in and have had great luck w/ it. It is very quiet and pushes ample power.In my new build I accidentally used the connector EVGA gives for their new 8800 cards that converts 2 of the 4 pin connectors into a 6 pin connector for the videocard and the PSU couldnt handle the pull on the 2 connectors and wouldnt fully power all the peripherals. But like the idiot i am when i bundled up all the connectors up top i forgot that I had a true 6 pin connector there and once I plugged that in instead of using the stupid adaptor the PSU powers perfectly. And the only reason im upgrading is for overclocking potential which w/ my luck this PSU can prob handle anyways and ill waste more money but WTH you only live once.
